Πρόκειται για τήν πολύ κοινή «Λεβαντίνη» πού καλλιεργείται στους κήπους κυρίως, για μπορντουρες , Δεν έχει καμμιά σχέση μέ τή Λεβάντα, πού αυτή ανήκει και σέ αλλη οικογένεια .
Το μικρό σχετικά αυτό φυτό, πού δλο μαζί φαίνεται χνουδωτό, με πρασινόασπρο χαρακτηριστικό χρώμα, έκτος πού στολίζει συχνά τούς κήπους, εχει ακόμη και θεραπευτικές ίδιότητες, που ο καλλιεργητής το φυτού αυτού ουτε τις υποψιάζεται.
Η Σαντολίνη εχει απολυμαντικές ίδιότητες σκωληκοκτόνες, αποτελεσματικές στήν πρίπτωση των όξυούρων καί άλλων σκουληκιών.
Και ακόμη, είναι φυτό άντισπασμωδικό, διεγερτικό, έμμηναγωγό.
Χρησιμοποιείται ώς τσάι.
Τό αιθέριο έλαιο του φυτου μέ τή χαρακτηριστική μυρωδιά του (παρόμοια μυρωδιά μέ εκείνη, πού έχει έντονη τό φυτό), είναι κατά των άασκαρίδων (σκουληκιών τών εντέρων).
