Τά άνθη τών φυτών αυτών συλλέγονται δλο τό καλοκαίρι για φαρμακευτική χρήση, όπως λέμε παρακάτω.
Η Σκαμπιόζα ή φαρμακευτική είναι φυτό πού φθάνει σέ ύψος ώς 50 έκ.
Τό στέλεχος της είναι εύθυ, κυλινδρικό, δυνατό κάπως τριχωτό πρός τά επάνω.
Τά φύλλα είναι αντίθετα.
Τά κατώτερα με μίσχο ακέραια.
Τα ανώτερα στενόμακρα, κάποτε οδοντωτά.
Τα άνθη μέ χρώμα βιολέ ή υπέρυθρα καί σπανίως άσπρα, σέ κεφαλή ημισφαιρική.
Η ρίζα είναι μαυρειδερή ,κυλινδρική, κοντή.
Οί καρποί μακρουλοί μέ 8 αυλάκια καί έχουν ένα σπόρο.
Φυτό πικρό, στυπτικό, καθαρτικό, έφιδρωτικό, είναι κατά τής λευκόρροιας καί μέ επιθέσεις στις εξελκώσεις.
Κατάλληλο στις παθήσεις του δέρματος μέ μικρά όμως αποτελέσματα.
Χρησιμοποιείται ως τσάι (20 γρ.
στό λίτρο νερό).
Ως εκχύλισμα καί ως σιρόπι.
